In September 2013, the last ever Kombi bus sputtered out of the São Bernardo do Campo plant in Brazil. Which moved Volkswagen to make a a film.
And while Type 2s have the longevity of a beer can, but with far less enjoyable contents, they're irrefutably iconic things. Which is why VW paid tribute with this auto-eulogy, documenting a small sample of owners from the car's staggering 3.9 million-unit production run.
Yep, 3.9 MILLION. 1.56 million in Brazil alone. Which is staggering considering the basic rear-engined, rear-wheel drive design dates back to the Forties, the Kombi entering production in 1949.
