I want to replace my mechanical fuel pump for electrical ONE NOT SURE WHAT ONE TO GET ? as it will increase and hold the psi and be ready for Nos when time come's also will need to put blank plate on in place of old pump scrap bit of metal cut to shape or do they sell blanking plates???

Hi mate I've looked into this for the TA when I had poor starting trouble is these pumps are very good but don't supply the litre if you think about it they are uk spec so at most might be able to Handel 5 liters (engine size) most of them say fit landys capri etc which would put them working with engines in the 4.6 range down to 1.6.so you could end up with fuel starvation (low psi) at mid to wot. Edlebrock do a pump so might be better looking in the US. Fingers crossed for you

I have a 255 liter per hour pump in mine, but it's too higher pressure for carbs, so wont recommend that one. But then I guess it comes down to the fuel pressure regulator.

That summit one you mention look good.

You have to be careful with electric fuel pumps on carbs. If the fuel pressure is too high it will lift the needle valve off the seat even though the float is trying to close it. Causes flooding and if severe enough you could get bore wash.
A regulator and a return line are mandatory.

I'm wondering if the standard mechanical pump would be sufficient if the fuel line was increased in size. I think (assuming you are talking the TA?) that standard is 3/8". I would think that the standard pump would cope quite nicely if you upgraded the line from front to rear with 1/2". Quite easy these days now that the laws on nylon lines are more relaxed.

Dis agree lol fords get quicker the more you drive em!!!! Just depends wot falls off . The super quick ones just have four wheels and a seat!! Mind you getting em out to drive can be a challenge that's why I've still got the ta
