Obnoxious people of the Internet, we bring you good news. Mercedes has released its online configurator for the new G 63, and we"re pleased to report it"s available in more than just shades of grey. There are also options. Not many, but enough to pile an extra 20,000 or so onto the 140,520 asking price, turning what was already a Very Expensive Car into an Obscenely Expensive Car. But remember, this is an all-new G on an all-new platform, and therefore more deserving of its substantial price tag than its archaic predecessor. It gets the 4.0-litre biturbo V8, giving 577bhp (as much as the AMG GT R) and a nine-speed automatic gearbox. All-wheel drive with a 40/60 torque split front/rear means 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds and, with the AMG Driver"s Package, an autobahn-ready 149mph top speed. And because you get all the same off-road tech" as a standard G, the 63 ought to be able to effortlessly make its way across whatever kind of terrain you might have cause to cross 22 inch alloys notwithstanding.
