Stefan Mucke will be thanking his lucky stars for modern safety standards this week. The German driver was approaching the final stages of the Six Hours of Spa on Saturday when he suffered a suspected puncture entering Eau Rouge; one of the fastest and most feared corners in motorsport. It couldn"t have happened at a worse place on the track. The loss of grip sent the Ford GT into a spin, striking the tyre wall with such force that the impact ripped the entire front end and one of the doors off the car.Fortunately there was no one following right behind the #66 GTE Pro racer, giving marshals just enough time to get the yellow flags out and warn others of the danger lying in wait in the middle of the circuit.
