Went on the Flying Scottsman today

It's at Swanage, it's only running for a week then will be static for a few weeks.
Great day out. The staff/volunteers were really good. A great atmosphere.

What size V8 motor does it have?

I don't have a clue how the cylinders joing the wheels, may just be a cylinder each side. Sounded great, but not a V8.

I was kidding. Steam engines have never done anything for me, I prefer 60’s era diesel-electrics but I’m certainly no train spotter.

Went on it again today with my auntie. Another great day out. She really enjoyed it.

Excellent! I'm not massively into steam engines either, but I can appreciate them, especially one with such character like the FS. Being close to a biggun when fired up is like being near some huge living thing. I'm a petrol head like us all, but it's worth noting that when a steam engine goes from stationary to 100mph, it does it in one gear! lol
