Only just gotten back to nornal days now, it did feel weird not using the laptop for the whole weekend. Good club night last night btw. Managed to get round to most people to say hi.

Anyway, I had some circuit boards and some parts had been delivered, these needed to be assembled for Monday, I was going to use a local production company but the boards wouldn't have been ready till mid week which would have been too late.
I had 4 boards to do, and it wasn't until i started i actually worked out the amount of solder joints needed.

In total over the 4 boards there was over 5600 solder joints. It even took a few hours just to go around and inspect every joint, had to use a scalpel blade on the processor pins to check all was soldered.

Took me 23 hours in the end to so the lot. If I nipped out to the Brickworks i would have lost about 4 hours. Even working Friday evening, all Saturday, most of Sunday and Monday evening, I only just got it finished in time to drop off Tuesday.

My eyes did go a bit funny at times, every time I closed my eyes I saw solder joints. Its a bit like that when I'm laying out the PCB tracks on the computer, when I close my eyes then I see tracks.

The above picture are surface mount resistors these ones are an 0603 package, just about get fine tweeters on them to pick them up. They are 1.5mm long x 0.8 mm wide. The 3 numbers on it represent the resistance, in this case 471 means 47 with 1 zero, as the last number represents the amount of zeros. So this one is 470 ohms.

So no more soldering for a while, and back to programming.

Those were the good old days but componants alot smaller now days alot more solid state devices and more in a single ic (chip) than in my day looks like you had fun???????
