Hankering for a BMW M2 GTS? Of course you are. While we wait to see if BMW has one up its sleeve, UK-based tuning house Evolve Automotive has released a pack to turn a regular M2 (if you could ever call our current favourite B-road blaster normal") into a giant-killing weapon, thanks to more than a little help from Dortmund-based Carbonfiber Dynamics. In the main, Evolve has stuck to the BMW GTS playbook, with a few personalised touches to make us feel all warm and gooey inside. Both the roof and bonnet have been refashioned in carbonfibre, dropping a combined 14-odd kilos and lowering the centre of gravity. Carbonfibre also finds a home on an adjustable boot spoiler (get the Allen keys out; it"s not electric), as well as front splitter and rear diffuser.A revised air intake (yet more carbon), bespoke exhaust and various software tweaks result in a healthy power bump from 370 to 401bhp, which is transferred to the road via Toyo Proxes R888 semi-slick tyres, wrapped around lightweight wheels forged from 6061 (read: aircraft grade) aluminium. If the power bump is healthy, then the torque jump is as fit as a triathlete jumping from 343 to 450lb ft. Semi-slick tyres and 450lb ft would make for an invigorating drive, to say the least, so it"s good to know that Evolve"s M2 is fitted with BMW"s own ceramic brake package. Now, sitting lower than the stock M car is also part of the GTS script, and Evolve"s M2 follows it to the letter. Adjustable monotube coilovers from Bilstein can dial in anything from comfortable street use to full, spine-compressing race spec at the turn of a spanner. The B16 units can also drop the ride height by up to two inches, either for race use, or showing off out the front of Harrods. We think a 400bhp M2 with a carbon roof is just what the doctor ordered and that Evolve has created a fantastic homage du GTS, if you will. But, if BMW does come out with its own, legitimate M2 GTS, how can it be any better? Let us know your thoughts below.Share this page: FacebookTwitterGoogle+WhatsAppMailtoCopy link
