Just like to explore the Renegades hive mind....a fellow Renegade is selling a set of 18" Camaro wheels. His is a '98 Gen 4, mine is also a Gen 4 but a '95 and currently on "16 inch rims. Can I swap my wheels for 18's without any issues? Thanks.

Those 18” rims aren’t standard. No 4th gen f-body came with 18” from the factory. But yes they will fit assuming he hasn’t done anything to make them fit like clearance the inner fenders or roll the wheel well edges.

I would need to calculate the tyre size I can see though. That doesn’t sound like he has the tyre profile right.

Thank you. I knew you would know. I'm thinking it may be better to get mine powder coated if there are going to be complications.

Biggest size on 16” rims had
Height 25.65 - width 9.65

Biggest size on 17” rims had
Height 25.66 - width 10.83

The rims with tyres you are looking at
Height 25.09 - width 8.86

A couple of quick calculations say that
245/40*18 would get you closer
Height - 25.72 - width 9.65

There is a chap on the pontiac owners club, goes by the name of Cowboy on their forum, I tihnk he has 18's or 19in on the 4th gen TA. May be able to get an idea of tyres size from him. I'll ping him a message and let you know what I find.

He is running 275 wide as it is standard, so the profile would be a lot different.

Thank you all. I need to have a think as to whether it's worth getting them or sticking with the wheels I've got and powder coating them.

Well you might want to consider what size wheel you are on now? If your on the original 16” then tyres are getting hard to find especially anything worth having.
Personally I like the rims you pictured and think they would look good.

I completely agree with you. It's exactly the look I'm after as I think it would certainly compliment the other detailing on the car and the colour. I've looked at prices for tyres for my 16's and as you say anything decent is difficult to find. If it was you would you go for 275s or 245s? I value your opinion both in terms of styling and in your understanding of the dark art of tyre sizes!

I would go with 275’s. They shouldn’t rub, the additional grip is useful and they look great.
As per above 275/35*18 would be very comparable to either the original 16” or 17” rims.
Might want to ask the seller and check he/she isn’t running spacers though.

Thank you for all of that and all your help. I'll check whether he's using spacers. I think on balance I'll probably get them, for the price it might be too good an offer to pass up on. If they don't work outI can always sell them on. ?

We’ve got 18’s on Alison’s Camaro Gen3 if you want me to check tyre sizes etc?

That would be good thanks John thanks. I've told the guy I'll have them but, obviously, at the moment he's hanging on to them until after the Zombie Apocalypse. Apparently they've still got a decent amount of tread on them but if you can check I can compare prices for replacement tyres for the various options. Thanks.
