Well here it is. The "for sale" ad I really don"t want to write, but with the recent addition and the plans I have for it, needs must.

For Sale - My 1965 Ford Galaxie 500.

I bought this back in 2016, and from that day on, it"s been utterly faultles over the 6-7000 I"ve put on it. It"s a stunning car that"s never let me down, draws comments from folk of all ages, turns heads everywhere it goes just just immense. There is literaly nothing I would do to it, as in my opinion, it needs nothing at all.

Some details.

It"s a genuine 70,000 mile car, originally from Ohio, sold to a chap in Indiana in 1994, then finally imported to the UK by the chap I bought it from, making me the 4th owner. I"ve ben in touch with the owner from Indiana who found me some photos to ensure it"s originality and mileage. It remains original bar the wheels and the front brakes, which I upgraded early this year to Wilwood 4-pots, with the addition of a booster (servo) and proportionoing valve. All of this was bolt-on with no drilling required (at a cost of close to 1k), so can be returned to stock easily. I will include the original drums.. It"s since been MOT"d and I asked them to pay particular attention to the new brakes to ensure all was good (which it was).

The motor is a 289 (4.7l) V8, matched to a 3-speed automatic transmission and an open diff at the back with 3.00 gearing, making it very good for long-distance motoring. I"ve used it for trips to Santa Pod on numerous occasions (around a 450 mile round trip) and sat at 60-65mph it returns around 23mpg. Naturally in town that drops loads, but that"s to be expected. It has a very typical V8 sound to it, which is quite muted but does sing a bit when asked.

At 1 point in it"s life in Indiana it was given a blow-over which didn"t go off correctly for some reason, but this turned out to be a very happy accident resulting in the finish you see. It looks a slightly different colour in different lights, but each of them is stunning. It"s been magazine-featured a couple of years back, if I"ve got a spare copy I"ll throw that in too.

Since it"s been here, it"s flown through every MOT with only, with only 3 advisories back in 2011 which were all sorted immediately (of course you can check this online anyway).

It"s in incredibly good condition, and I"ve endeavoured to keep it as such. It"s been a dry-stored car it"s whole life and has only seen rain in the UK a handful of times. I"ve treated it to a number of full details from a well-regarded local company who"ve cared for it very well indeed, using high-end products to do so. The underside is as good as the rest.

I have some of it"s history too, with the original owners manual and a sales brochure that I"ll include in the sale, along with the old titles and any receipts. There"s all the import / registration documents, and a few photocopies from previous owners of wiring digrams / tips etc...and I"ll be includuing the (large) workshop manual that was sent to me with it.

The (very minor) bad points -

It needs a wiper blade, then end inch of one of them has torn very slightly.
There is a slight leak from the transmission, I just top it up once in a while. It"s been like this since it came into the UK and never been an issue.
The only things that don"t work are the original clock (apparently it"s incredibly rare for any to be working) and the AM stereo, which I believe is only down to the "on" switch (it was fine until I let a kid in who twisted it too vigourously and now it won"t "click" on. I"m sure they can be sorted but they are things that have never bothered me.
The top of the rear bench seat has dried out and cracked, hance the Mexican blanket on the parcel shelf to cover it. Again, it"s been like this for years and as it"s original I"ve had no intention to repair it.

Bar all that it"s just a case of get in, fire it up and drive away.

As for the price, I"m asking 12,500 or very near offers. I"m not in a daft hurry to sell, so please don"t try and low-ball me. I turned down offers not far away from that before I installed the Wilwoods. I"m happy to get other photos for people who are seriously interested on request.

It"s located in Kendal, 10 minutes from J36 on the M6. I can arragnge delivery, deliver it myself if travel costs are covered, or of course I"d be happy to collect a buyer from Oxenholme station on the West Coast Mainline and bring them to it.

Please don"t hesitate to ask any questions.
