Changed fuel pipe clips.

Because of extra joins that would be required from the fuel rails to the stock fuel line, more joins more potential for leaks. So replacing the entire metal fuel line with braided, so it's one price from the fuel rails to that t-peice by the filter.

When the new pipes come, it will be difficult to fit them to the rails and get all 8 injectors located, as the pipes wont be too flexible and may try to put the rails further apart of closer together. With so many tihngs needing to line up perfect and not wanting to damage the new injectors. i think it is best to take off the intake manifold

This way the injectors we will perfectly located and their rubber seals can be inspected to be located while assembling.

Whats involved in taking off the intake? well there are 10 bolts that hold it on, easy enough to take off the air box and leave the throttle body attached. So I'd say less than a 20min job, and time well spent knowing that this sub assembly with injectors, fuel rails and new pipes are all located perfectly.

Called Speedflow paid the extra for the longer pipe with the correct end on it. :)

I have the fuel pipe adaptor. 16x1.5mm to AN8. All new AN8 fuel lines being made this week, may have them for the weekend.

Popped it into the t-juntion, and fits fine. Also tried the other end with my old AN8 pipes and fits perfect.
Should all go smoothly once the new pipes arrive with ends on arrive. :)

New pipes are here, they look fab, looking forward to getting them on. These were brought from www.Speedflow.co.uk, you can but pipe and connectors to make them yourself, or at no extra cost they can do them for you. The lady on the phone is very knowledgeable and helpful, I would certainly recommend them if you need this sort of thing.

The red bits on the end are just thread protectors. I have checked they connect with the fuel rails and the connector on the T-junction. We are all set. I'll take the intake off tonight and build it up as a sub assembly.

Preparing to take intake off by disconnecting air box, throttle and cruise control cable. 10 bolts. Carefully lift up to avoid oil pressure sender at the rear.

Then on the bench, clean up. Paint flaking up even though it was peeped with primer made fir plastic. Of well, not too concerned as aim to get a different intake in the next year.

New injector next to old, same part number. These are 42lb/hr @ 43 psi, I'm running 58psi. Stock injectors are 26 or 28lb/hr depending on year. I went for the same as support more hp than I have, and already tuned. Old ones work, but over 10years old, how matched are they? . New ones have been flow tested/matched.

New pipe going on the end of the fuel rails at the back of the intake.

Looking good, both pipes added and all 8 injectors lubed and in place.

It was nice doing something on the car again. Its been a few days since i have been in the garage. Done all this before dinner was ready. Intake came off easy, and pipes fitted perfect. I'll do the rest tomorrow. Gonna relax a little tonight.

Been working on web server stuff too. Had one last domain to migrate which the hosting providers did, this somehow knocked out mail on all other accounts. So no solent-renegades.co.uk emails at present. When logging into server control i get an error when listing domains. So now not only the hosting providers looking into the fault, they have escalated it to Plesk. All good fun. Nothing more I can really do.

Looking forward to working on the car tomorrow.

Looks good :)

and the helper will be in the photos again lol,,,,

Yep the little helper plays music while I work.

and your other helper nags all the time lol

All backtogether and torqued up under the hood, now to feed the fuel line through.

Fuel system pressurised and checked for leaks.

First run, started up, all new injectors are firing. Checked for leaks, all good.

Title of the thread didn't quite fit. Started off as changing jubilee clips, 10 pack of stainless fir around £7.
Ended up finding the rubber pipe inside the braided pipe was doubtful, like it has perished, as this pipe were the same age as the two on the intake manifold. Thought I'd change the lot. However, better pipe resilient to fuel additives is a harder pipe so wouldn't mate with the stock fuel line too well. So removed the stock fuel line back to a T-junction be the back wheel, means more pipe.

So a £7 fix ended up costing £250. At least the job is done well and not just a temporary fix.
