Changed fuel pipe clips.

Well on the T/A I had a leak the other day, luckily I was in the garage and heard it before starting the car. Fuel pressure runs at 58psi, so if there is a leak then ou know about it.
That day I just tightened up the jubilee clips. Stainless steel ones with a 12mm wide band. The fuel pipe is 20mm diameter, and these go down to 15mm.

Removed the clamps but the metal pipe has a mushroom end so couldnt remove the hose.

Plan B, remove the other end of the pipe and slide the clamps on. This worked well. The old one could open up enough to pop off without sliding over the top.

New clamps on, mounted 90 degrees from each others and butted up next to each other, so effitively giving me a 24mm clamping area. I will keep an eye on this. As I couldn't inspect the inside of the pipe, it shound't have deteriorated, but it is probably 10 years old now.

No need, couldn't find anything wrong with the pipe, it was the clamps. I don't have any more of the same pipe only nitrous pipe. I'll keep an eye on ut.

Just started it up to check for leaks, all good.

Need to revisit this one. Started the car up to move it our for photos of the Cerakote coating.
The leak is back. I was hoping the clips would fix it as one was loose previously, however my thoughts of perhaps the pipe has perished further up has been confirmed.
The pipe is from Speedflow.co.uk along with fittings, the outer diameter is 17mm and inner is 11.2mm. I could use the same pipe again or some for something more resistant to E85 that is found in unleaded. This has a smaller outer diameter and same inner, its the inner that is important as needs to slide over the stock fuel line. I have emailed the company. Some connectors are almost £30 each, and to changed the lot I will need 5 of them along with £30 of pipe. £180ish to renew all the braided fuel lines.
As one pipe has failed the other 2 wont be far behind.
 
Old pipes removed and measured. I'll get them to put the ends on, I done it last time, but as it's a free service, why not. :)

Taken some measurments, emailed Speedflow, and waited a bit before giving them a call. Ther person I need to talk to is out on deliveries and will call back when they return :)
 
New fuel pipes ordered, they should arrive on Friday next week. They need to wait on a delivery that arrives on Thursday to complete my order. Then couried next day. Then should be able to drive that weekend. :)
 
Thinking instead of terminating the new fuel pipe into the 10mm pipe in the engine bay with jubilee clips as the nylon pipe dosn't seqeeze too well, it could work with heating it. I prefer to not have this join is I can help it.
Following the fuel line it goes to this t-peice on the right hand side.

Now what size this this, what type of connector. Searching through the gm workshop manual it didn't say.
Found something here, https://ls1tech.com/forums/fueling-...y-fuel-line-t-block-thread-size-question.html they are talking about blocking off the middle one, but does give a size. 14mm x 1.5 O-Ring Fuel seal. If all 3 are the same then this info is useful.
 
changing the fuel filter as well might s well wen was it last done?
 
L.ocal motor factors are getting me a filter, took my old one there and they looked it up. I'm in no rush, aiming to get back on the road for next week. Seems they will have one this coming Monday. :)
 
Took the pipe off that t-block, the two at each end are actually 16mm x 1.5mm. The one in the middle talked about on LS1Tech is 14mm x 1.5 as they said. I will need a 16mm x 1.5mm to AN-8 adaptor and a whole new pipe to the front. Will be nice to have it all new.

Ordered an adaptor, the rubber end goes into the t-block, and gives me an an-8 connections to the new fuel pipe that I will be getting made.

Need to measure the length I need for the fuel pipe, there are some tight bends, which the new pipe has a bend radius of 5.25inches. Maybe a different route will be required, as the long tube headers take a different route to the stock exhaust i may be able to use that to may advantage. No rush to do this measurement, i want to get it to them first thing Monday. So maybe I'll do this measurement tomorrow.
 
Old fuel pipe ran behind heatshelds, in some places behind 2 and claimed to the car. Eventually removed ut and measured it. Also measured my route with string taking into account the bend radius of the pipe I wish to order. Total length measures 325cm from fuel rails to that t-peice. This is 40cm longer than the original fuel pipe which tallys up as was getting a pipe 41cm long from the rails to the original pipe. So I'll write up an email later to change the order to be 325cm long with an8 fitings both ends.
