This is a UK registered, MoT d, on-the-road vehicle.

I bought it 2 years ago through an owners club in the USA. I had it transported south and shipped out of Houston, Texas, then waited months for it to arrive. I was relieved when it landed in one piece. I paid the duty and VAT and did all the HMRC paperwork which released it from the docks, then had it trailered home to Edinburgh.

Up until now it had spent all it"s life in the South East corner of Kansas where there is almost zero salt on the roads. The birdcage and chassis are both in excellent condition. I only drive in on dry days and it lives in my secure heated garage.

When it first arrived in the UK is was running and driving but it needed some work to make it roadworthy. I started off with a coolant flush and an oil change, replacing the filters as I went. I popped in a fresh set of plugs and fitted a new distributor and new carburetor.

I replaced the brake master cylinder with a new one, and rebuilt all four brake calipers with new pistons and seals, then flushed the lines with alcohol before refilling with Dot-5 brake fluid. I also rebuild the handbrake mechanism, fitting new cables to the rear.

I removed the pop-up from headlamp units, stripped and rebuild them with new bearings and bushes. I refitted them with 4X new, UK-correct sealed beam headlamps.

The wiper motor and washer was removed, stripped and serviced.

When it first rolled off the production line the specification was: 327/350bhp L78 factory 4-speed manual car with disc brakes all round, optioned with the F41 suspension. The engine has now been upgraded to a very powerful 383 stroker, coupled to stainless manifolds and large side pipes which sound fantastic but are very loud. It is a very fast car.

When I bought the car it was fitted with a miss-matched set of wheels and perished tyres. I popped on a set of BMW wheels that I had in the garage, with new tyres, just to get it on the road and through an MoT. Since then, I"ve not been able to decide which style of wheels to buy for it, so it"s still sitting on the BMW units. (I promise it wasn"t a styling choice!)

The previous owner had fibre-glassed on some home-made flared wheel arch extensions. I removed the front ones (which was an easy job) but the rears are still present. I would definitely choose to remove those too, if I was keeping the car.

It needs a respray and a bit of a general tidy-up, but is a decent, honest car, in need of a rolling light-restoration.

It"s located in Edinburgh, EH74JE. I can have it securely transported to London for 350.

Flights from Gatwick are around 35 each way (the flight time is just over an hour) and I"m happy to collect you from the Airport

I have a ramp in my garage, so you can have a very good poke around underneath the car.
