Hayling Island 999 Emergency Services Day
Sunday 26[SUP]th[/SUP] June 2016 Beachlands 1000hrs – 1630hrs

The organisers wondered if the Solent Renagades would again be willing to again support and participate in the event to be held in the same area to the west of the Funland on the events field of Beachlands, Hayling Island as this year. near PO11 0AG

The event will again be held between the Blue and green lines on the map below.

The exact co-ordinates for where the sea meets the beach are;- 50.783598,-0991355 or 50 degrees 47’ 6” N - 0 degrees 59’ 31” W

The event raised considerable funds for various charities including the RNLI, Red cross, St Johns Ambulance, Air ambulance, local scout group, etc., is worthwhile and to this end a volunteer group from the Hayling Island South Central Ambulance Service Community First Responders has again been formed to organise the event with co-operation of the Havant Borough Council events and communities department.

They would be grateful for a reply to give an indication if Solent Renagades will be participating and I have the contact(s) correct together with telephone and e-mail address’s.

There will be a lowering of flags and Sunset ceremony with full brass band.

These would initially be for a static display during which you would be free to use the event to raise funds and promote our shows

They would note that if any persons attending with classic vehicles wanted to stay overnight either prior to or after the event, They have arranged a reduced cost of £70 per night at the 5 star Langstone Hotel in north Hayling, just as you cross over the bridge. This is for those bringing emergency vehicles, just quote 999 Day when booking a room(s).

The intention is to develop 999 day with additional new action scenarios to add to the static displays and exhibitions. If you wanted to be involved in one of these scenarios I would be very pleased to hear from you.

So although its a little way off, who would be interested in going along to this one?

Its the week after Beaulieu. :p

I have managed to get the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Historic Flight to provide a fly past of one of their aircraft for a D-Day action scenario I am planning. Plus I have the deputy mayor and some firemen over from Hayling’s twin town of Gorron in France that was one of the towns liberated shortly after D-Day.

I went last year and sat on my own with the Corvette. Nobody else showed up. Quite an interesting day . A chat with the bomb disposal guys was an eye opener. I will probably go this year and I might take the Cossie as well. My wife would be driving that.

Yea I'll go

Great, good to see people interested. I won't be able to make it myself as will be out of the country.
