mustang wanted

Fingers crossed you find something soon! Must be so frustrating.

yes especially as ive the funds burning a hole in my pocket ! it wont be long until Dunsfold day arrives and the first show of the year !

well just this Saturday to go and I will see what is coming down from Scotland !! hope its what I am after the build spec is outstanding on paper but the proof is in the pudding . failing that I will have a full ground up restored genuine 66 K code GT built to my wish list a little more expensive but it will be basically a new car and VIN proof K GT.

I was wondering how your search was going. Keep us posted, its interesting following how its all coming together. That is a long way to come down, hope its prefect for you.

The guy is bringing it down here and giving me first option if I don't take it then it will be down here at his fathers house near Aldershot as he thinks there is a better market for it here rather than in Scotland.

I have been assured my wish list is do able with my budget should I go down the rebuild road and I will be able to see the car in different stages coming together so its an option if all else fails.

Its Saturday and it didn't arrive !! apparently the screen has a crack in it and autoglass could not fit the new one in time and he cant bring it next weekend either !

So now the good news ....the factory K code GT coupe is still available and it looks like im going down that route for a rebuild to my wish list spec. wont be ready to hit the streets for around 7 months .

The 1966 K code GT has been secured and will be soon on its way from the states ! it will be a full ground up rebuild as to original spec using all new parts , only difference will be the 289 block which will be stroked ! The colour and interior to be decided on . photos for portfolio . I am sure the wait will be worth it and with luck may hit the streets and a club night late july.

Thanks for all your help

tony

Thats great news Tony. A stroked 289 will be nice, not too different to original spec, but more grunt. Looking forward to seeing it and hearing it. Feel free to post up progress pictures as you do work. If you need a guide to upload photos just let me know. also feel free to write a blog or article on your car. :)

Thanks Dan that's good of you , when I had the Cobra it was never a real every day car and trying to get to shows and meets was difficult because of the british weather but with the mustang I will be able to get to the club nights and wont worry about the odd down pour !. I spoke to my builder today and with any luck the car may be ready by late june !!!

The car was built in Detroit 3rd March 1966 and the original owner chose the 9" axle with better ratio so with the stroker it will be punching out a decent BHP . The colour and interior will be a Ford colour for that year and built as to its original GT spec. I will update as the build goes.

cheers

Oh wow!! I can't wait to see this! I was just about to suggest South Coast Mustangs as well, you guys are on the south coast and they have an amazing selection of Stangs at their disposal but this build does sound pretty feckin awesome!!

Make sure you keep the build thread going! Can't wait!

will do ! the end result will be worth the wait and something new on the scene at shows
and another in the Solent Renegades Line up

The body is being stripped back to bare metal and any thing like doors . bonnet and boot lid thats too far gone will be replaced with new ones. the engine bay and boot interior will be as good as the outside of the car. The underside is being taken back to bare metal and will be treated and then given a good coating to prevent corrosion etc. The glass some trim and some interior has already been sourced and the magnum 500 GT wheels and tyres will be sent with the car.

As soon as its here it will be given final body prep and then sent to the paint shop

thank you , sadly tho its not my own work as im having built for me !!! i dont stretch to those skills just everyday car maintenance. ;):violin:

To be honest, if that was my car I'd have someone else do it too....I wouldn't trust myself to do it :)

update ! car now on its way to New Jersey where it will be loaded into a container along with some nice goodies !!!

xmas allover again :horn:

A mustang build thread coming up then result??

yes as soon as it gets here it will be photographed from day one until its driven out of the workshop , mind you the wish list is getting slightly bigger along with the final bill :( but i dont want to be one of those people who said " i wish i had done that when i had the chance " without being morbid , you never know how long you have got on this planet so its a case of enjoy to the full !!!
