Hi Darren
When i see you next at club nite i have a more recent pic on my phone of the Rustang, infortunately she has not faired very well, being a typical seventies car she is full of filler which i found out shortly after purchasing her and driving her on the road which i did for around two and a bit years,if you look at our photo gallery around 2000 + 2001 you will see her at variuos shows amd Guildford cruises. Because of storage problems she's been inside then left outside and currently resides in a double garage in Romsey if you ask Martin with the day van he can confirm shes a bit of a sorry state and border line on salvageble. She really needs a whole new shell but i will end up replacing every panel including floorpans and boot floor and the only panel i dont need to change is the roof although i will have to weld up a tiny hole. The reason why i have kept the Rustang so long (12 years) this the longest time i have ever owned a car and she goes like stink, Paul with the Camaro wont admit it but it used to keep up with his Camaro, as testament to this on the way back from the Guildford cruise i kept up with him and went passed him coming off the A3 onto the A27, he maintained he had carb problems that day,Lol! The current spec is 4V heads which they used to fit to the Cobra Jet spec 351 Clevelands with bigger valves, also has a big old camshaft that gives it a really uneven tickover, apparently has a set of performance pistons in it which i have no spec on.Holley performer inlet manifold with a 750 vac sec Holley carb, dual point Mallory distributor with an Accel coil, big tubular headers, electric high volume fuel pump, traction bars outback and an LSD in a Ford 9" axle and a factory performance FMX gearbox. She is rumoured to produce 400bhp although i have never had this confirmed but can honestly say she lights up the rear tyres with only a heavy stab on the loud pedel and has two stages on the camshaft and both are scary.I cant wait to drive her again and have had to wait far too long and hopefully next year will see her return,i was going for the Pro Touring look with big inch alloys like 20 x 10 outback and 18 x 7 on the front.I have now changed my mind and am going to do an original Gone in
Sixty Seconds replica from the first move, which will see her in yellow and black as the original Eleanor which was a 1973 Mach 1 Musstang same as mine.So Renegades watch this space i have already spoken to Dan about doing a project diary of the Rustangs progress because you would not believe me when you see the finished article that i started out with the same car which is as bad as you would ever want to get.ThereS are a lot of Renegades in the club, which is the majority of you that keep telling me shes beyond repair and will never get her done but she will be, and hopefully not that far away.
Cheers Superb! Heres to a very busy winter in the lock up.
