SAE International recently released the results of its 2016 Mobility Engineering Professionals Salary Survey that also includes an interactive online Salary Calculator. Among the survey"s key findings: The average age of respondents decreased by 11 years compared with the previous survey. In 2014, the average age of engineers responding to the survey was 48, while in 2016, the average age is 37 years old. "This is an important point to note as members review the data," said Matt Creech, Director, Membership & Sections, SAE International. "I also thought it was fascinating to learn that SAE International Members reported that they earned over 9% more than non-members." This is the fourth time SAE has commissioned the biennial engineering salary survey and it remains the only one of its kind to examine both compensation and employment changes for engineers and technical employees in the automotive, aerospace and commercial-vehicle industries. The salary survey is free to SAE current members and available for purchase by non-members for $249. Learn more at books.sae.org/salserv2016/.
