I'm going to be away for a couple of weeks. flying out Sunday, to Minnesota, then a short flight to South Dakota, then a taxi to the hotel. Leaving home at 7am, arrive at hotel around 4am(UK time) gonna be a long day. Few hours sleep then at work for around 9am Monday, its only a short walk from the hotel. Flying back on the 22nd. I will have access to the forum in the evenings while I'm over there.

Enjoy. Go and try the corned beef hash in a Dennies diner. Delicious!
Couldn't find a Dennies in Brookings SD. There may be one in Minnesota, but I'm not planning to leave the airport while waiting for the connecting flight for around 4 hours.

I guess I better start packing. Sort of relaxing day today, seeing mum at 3pm and walk the dogs, back home around 7pm. So would be nice to get everything packed and ready for 3pm.
I want to measure the garage and garden area, also the area next to the shed. I'm going to have a few quiet evenings in the states, just me and the laptop, I'll draw up some plans for the garage, and also the little mini shed to hold garden tools like spades, forks, etc, stuff that gets dirty that you don't want in the main shed. This will also double up as a parcel drop off place, will be dry, and have doors on it but unlocked, and cant be seen by the road. We may only get about 2 parcels a year that we miss and go to the sorting office.

Enjoy Dan. Empty suitcase for bringing back parts :)

Has Sarah gone with you?

Ah South Dakota - stunning state ;). Where abouts you staying?

We stayed in Keystone, SD. and of course it is where Mount Rushmore is :)

A little town called Brookings. It's based around an intersection, the bottom right corner is Daktronics, it's a huge place, building the size of aircraft gangers, and about 6 of them.

At Heathrow Terminal 3 now. No Sarah, but would be an idea for the future, pay the extra for the ticket and for the room, could hire a car and go out int he evenings and weekends.

Landed safe, and finally got through immigration. I must look dodgy. They asked what is the purpose of my visit. I said "here to work for 2 weeks" Rang alarm bells for them. I'm working for the same company as back home, just the head office.
Well I'm through after about an hour. Now waiting for the next plane. Sunny outside, feels hot indoors.

At the hotel now time for a little sleep before work in the morning.

Do you need a work visa or because it’s the parent company of your normal employer are you somehow exempt?

An ESTA is fine is you are in meetings taking notes with a laptop.
Programming is borderline on being allowed.
Doing any manual work isn't allowed and you need a visa for.
I will be programming and perhaps checking wave forms with an occiliscope. So in future I may need to look into getting a visa.
I don't get paid by the USA office for the trip, just paid as usual from the UK office.

I can make room for that.
