Vehicle Badging

if i remember correctly the volvo 262c was made for the american market. its in a book i have got called "crap cars"

The Volvo 262C was indeed designed primarily for the US market - it even resembles a Cadillac Eldorado a little bit if you squint, although it was styled by Bertone in Italy. A few were sold in the UK though. I remember seeing one around in Horndean years ago, back when I was still at school. It had the PRV V6 engine if I remember rightly. It's the styling that was controversial about it, they were otherwise good cars like the rest of the Volvo 200-series range.

GT

What is it with inappropriate badging used by Vehicle manufacturers?
Take this BMW for example.
A 2.0L diesel 5 door calling itself a GT.
GT cars are traditionally 2 seat, 2 door coupes with large engines, and just enough space for two adults and their toothbrushes. They cover continents consuming fuel at an alarming rate and are about the pleasure of driving. Where's the pleasure in looking like every other POS on the road, sounding like a Massey Ferguson with the contraception failures in the back seat asking "are we there yet" every 5 mins. And you don't even have regular fuel stops to look forward too where you might be able to leave the little bast**ds in a garage loo!!

GT car? No way despite BMW's stupid marketing and fools that buy them!!

GT ? No, it doesn’t stand for good times, GT most commonly stands for Grand Touring or Gran Turismo. A vehicle given the GT designation by its manufacturer generally means the vehicle is high performance and, unlike a race car, features an interior built for comfort. More specifically, the Random House Unabridged Dictionary defines GT as “an automobile in the style of a coupe, usually seating two but occasionally four, and designed for comfort and high speed.”

Thought I would add a picture of a Volvo that actually does have value, even if 100% of it is in the engine bay!!!

lol, certainly a sleeper vehicle as with that hood shut it would just look like a volvo.

And then I remembered that Paul Newman had a 960 built with a supercharged Ford v8.

I saw it on Wayne Carini's "Chaing Classic Cars" TV show

Well only you can offer some input as to how quick the volvo may be,,,, having owned a vette i am sure you tried the standing start of it

The Vette was devastatingly quick if you got traction. But even with traction control switched on stopping the rears from spinning was difficult even on dry roads. I'm sure Neo and Malcolm remember me pulling out from the petrol station in May this year and damn near losing it in 1st and then again in 2nd. The C5Z06 only had 405hp but was light weight. God I miss that car.....
