Vinyl or not to vinyl ...

If this is in the wrong place, I will PROMPTLY remove it and repost where directed :)

Alright - Its that time of year and I'm thinking about making changes to the green beastie and distracting away from the scratches she has recieved over the past 18 years. And I am seeking opinions this time around on what to do (even if the ideas are completely silly!), so posting this up to see what people think and if anyone feels like being creative and throwing down their ideas as well...

I am throwing around a few ideas - Keeping in mind I usually don't care for graphics, like the following, on my car, but I hate them scratches A LOT MORE. Here are 5 ideas I have worked with so far...might work on a custom idea if I get a chance away from spring cleaning this week...

Anyway, here are some of the ideas

Number Two -

I can change colors to virtually anything, in any combo, so keep that in mind too!

Opinions opinions opinions... ideas ideas ideas... stuff stuff stuff ...

From memory your car was black dark blue last time i saw it or was it green ?? not good for a sparky to be color blind lol,

that softwear you are using dose it have a fall range of cars???

FOR SHAME!! The green beastie is a dark metallic green, looks almost black :)

I am using Corel Draw and have been gifted a bunch of vehicle templates from my buddies at Zillwoods. I don't have every make/model template, but I have quite a few.

This is all I have of the 'Stang --

Oh dam i am color blind

NO CUPCAKES FOR YOU. Gosh.

;)

Awesome Neo. I'm quite liking the first one. :)

I am torn between ONE and especially FIVE. Didn't have time to throw anything else together. Will probably print out both and throw on whichever is easiest to slap on all by my lonesome (because, lets face it, this car is terribly curve-y along its side like some retro grand canyon map).

Or hell, will do nothing and just let the green beasty keep her "dirt storm survivor" look, heehee ;)

Looking forward to seeing it what ever you decide.

Do you have to use a hair dryer on the vinyl to make it fit the curves or is that some other stuff?

Yup...hair dryer, or any ol' heat gun set to a low setting. It shouldnt be too bad...unless I chose to fit option FIVE. There are a lot of curves along down there, haa ;)

I would have done a Starsky and Hutch side-flash (thought it was a good idea, too), but I don’t have the quarter panel along the side of the rear windscreen for the upward swoosh of the side-flash. Unless I just pretend there are no rear quarter windows and throw on the decal anyway. DARN THEM WINDOWS! Who needs them.... Heehee ;)

But in other news -- The plotter (the machine that cuts the design of my choosing into the vinyl) munched the living daylights out of my only piece of 8 foot by 2.5 foot silver vinyl. D'OH!!! So... might not have anything done for the show, but we shall see. Steve is looking at trying to get to our vinyl people and give them the big puppy-dog eyes for some more.

I might just throw something random on for temporary reasons, but I have no clue what (only have so much time to work on this). Might just go with a nice 'un-washed-for-months' look. Heehee ;)

How about a perforated vinyl or made up of lots of vinyl dots for the glass? would still give the impression of the flash but wouldn't block the glass completely.

I don't have any perforated vinyl, I would have to add in the holes manually...and that would take ages (unless I can find a script for the program that will do it for me).

HOWEVER!!!!!!!

I have mocked something up with the Torino swoosh-y, tweeked proportions a little bit...and...this is what I came up with this morning .... Yes, no? White? Lime green? Something else? I might even have enough matte black for this project...

I think I like this idea, haahaa ;)

Not enough matt black :( Short by over a foot (My car is 15 feet long! Now tell me that isn't a huge coupe. Yikes!) BUT BUT BUT! I have enough gloss black to do this about 100 times, so...looks like its gloss black for the time being. Will try and puppy-dog-eye my vinyl guys and get enough matt for later...

If I can get evertyhing done I need to today, and get "Mtuk" the green beastie washed, old decals off (Steve locked everything away into the shop and took his keys the day I needed the heatgun and car washing/waxing materials. He was in the doghouse that night, heehee!), I should have this on for tomorrow.

...but I don't think I will be getting Fancy's GoPro harness done, though. We'll see. Lots to do, so little time ;)
