Don"t worry, your screen resolution isn"t drunk. Those really are two high-revving micro Mustangs scrambling around a waterlogged Symmons Plains Raceway as part of the Aussie Racing Cars Championship. Now, you may not have heard of Aussie Racing Cars, but relax and take notes as it"s both a hilarious and most excellent racing series. Aussie Racing cars are diddy motorbike-engined silhouette racers powered by 1.2-litre four-cylinder engines that rev to 11,500rpm, all fed through a five-speed sequential gearbox. Weighing just 450kg, they can reach 150mph and are probably the closest thing to driving an actual Micro Machine without the use of a Playstation controller. Best of all, as they"re silhouettes, you can clad the spaceframe chassis in whatever bodywork you like; Chevy Camaros, Holden Cruzes, Nissan Altimas and Hyundai Elantras are all popular, but nothing looks quite as bizarre as a pint-sized Mustang. Especially when they"re caught in a dogfight while hopelessly scrambling around for grip.
