Dodge Challenger Demon

Did I read somewhere that is not going to allowed on the strip??? I'd still buy one ! Love it

If you go over a certain speed you need a certain spec roll cage. May just be that.

I can't go on the goodwood track in the TransAm due to noise limit.

Odd why things are legal on the road but not on the track.

You may not be legal! I think the limit is 100db or something. It's measured about 24" inches from the tailpipe at a 45 deg angle, at the same height as the tailpipe and at 50% max rpm.
Might be an interesting experiment with a free smartphone app!

The Exorcist!

Hennessey Performance is more than ready for a brutal dogfight with Dodge’s one-seater special show pony — they are taking the ZL1’s 650 horsepower 6.2L, and giving it a makeover. The upgrades are expected to include a larger Hennessey Performance blower, ported heads, headers, and custom induction to reach 1,000 horsepower and 966 lbs.-ft. of torque.

Backing the powertrain will be a six-speed manual transmission, or 10-speed automatic to carry the power to the wheels. The Exorcist will race to 60 miles per hour in under three seconds, and cover the 1/4-mile in less than 10-seconds.

Price wise, the Hennessey Performance upgrades are going to exorcise quite a bit of money from your checking account with an added $55,000 cost on top of the $63,435 ZL1 sticker.

That's the one I was thinking of. Would be nice to have that package in the TransAm style camaro.

Banned by the NRHA for safety reasons

“So why isn't Dodge itself offering a roll cage straight from the factory? There are a number of reasons, including development time, crash-testing costs and potentially greater legal liability as an OEM. Tim Kuniskis, head of Fiat Chrysler's Passenger Car Brands today, said: "As a manufacturer, we will never offer a roll cage. And any roll cage that goes into a car has to be inspected and certified by the NHRA. That is really the sticking point on the quote "ban."

Some issues in an Hellcat.

gets some knocking sound a few mins into the video. wonder if it's an isolated incident, or will we be hearing more like this...

The guy is hardly mechanically sympathetic. But could easily be a blown exhaust gasket but without seeing the oil pressure impossible to know/

video link not working?

I guess the owner must have taken it down. It was a chap basically ragging the car on the motorway, didn't hit the rev limit, after a while it may a loud tapping noise.
