I have been toying with the idea for some time. Someone I work with in the US office has one so asked advice. I went for the Bambu P1S, its an enclosed one. Many are just a frame with no sides.

One of the test prints is a little boat. Completed in under 20mins.

The finish is really great.

By the next day I have printed more stuff. The White boxes are for silica gel, so I can keep the filiment dry. The cone shape is clever how it works as you can trist the orange part out from the middle.

Then printed a 'pop' shute, When the material gdeets purges between prints and changing colours it gets ejected out the back. This catches it and slides around the front.

Then I went on to making something I needed. This little circuit board I use for programming board with the Efinix FPGA on it. I did danage a board by it shorting out on another board while I was trying to do some debuging. Well wouldn't it be nice if it was in a box. So I 3D drew up a box and printed it out.

One thing I do want to make is some replacement peices for the t-tops on the car. This one is cracked, the other side is missing.

Now do I draw from scratch or to find a 3D scanner? which may need a lot of manual manipulation anyway... fun fun fun....

Need to keep the filiment(plastic wire stuff) very dry. The garag eis 50% humidity which is ideal for storage. However the filiment need to be 20% or below. The top box is pretty air tight so silica beads are the way to bring it down in humidity. I have some in there now.
Some silica beads can be baked to dry them out ready to use again. I was looking for more silica beads, and having the colour changing ones would be ideal to see how dry they are.

Came accross these on eBay, Reusable, just pop them in a safe to dry them out?!?!? lol, something missing in language translation there.

They are costly arn't they. Probably worth while if I had loads of stuff to scan. Could scan the car and make a model.

I done a quick 3D scan with a free app on the phone. It gets me in the right ball park. I think I'll redraw it for some clean edges and use the scanned model as a guide.

car SOS Cortina mk 3 restoration they 3D printed part . started by spraying a borrowed part. made scanning it a lot better. i cant remember what they used but it can be removed easily without damaging the original

Trying to copy this interior piece.
Just done a rough print for now to check measurements.

Sone of the angles are a bit off. Will be making some adjustments.

Just thinking, is there a local company that could do a 'Profeshnial' scan for you?

Good idea. There could be.

Have been readig reviews of scanners. I'm konda on the fence about getting one, mainly due to how often will it be used. So a local scan company could probably be a good option.

Spend about 20 hours tinkering with a 3D scan from the phone.

The front face messy, but thats okay, was just a quick fitting print. It all fits perfect. Needs an addition 1mm spacer behing the right hand screw.

Model is ready to go. ome edges could be rfined a bit more, this too a long time.
Added in the WS,6 writing. Currently in White, but I have some yellow coming, I'd like to try the writing i yellow.

Finally ready to print the final model.

The grey is support, this will just peel off. Found the WS6 and 'TransAm' in the correct font, embedded it into the model.

Its going to take around 5 hours. So ideal to run over night.

Printed them out overnight all ready for this morning.

Had some clear plastic support added. This creates a nice spacer for the screw holes.

Well another new toy on its way. Decided to get a 3D scanner. Could be fun. Ideal for making more custom parts.

My old virgin box cover was cracked and bits missing.
An ideal thing to print?. As it's out door I needed to use a filament that is more UV resistant. Went for ABS

Printed great and first first time. Top part has a lip to hook over the top of the box. Cable tie holds it on at the bottom(this is how the original held on).

Could scan in the Camaro and print out as a scaled model then make it radio controlled. That could count as 'getting the camaro running' lol.

Scanned in a tape measure. So now its a 3D model, can rotate it edit it.

Thats was a good test. I will eventually scan stuff in the car, like holes in the center console. I will know the size of hole and make something to fit.
