Belt and braces lol.šŸ¤£ Not with swmnbo car

Printed it out in the high temperature stuff over the weekend.
Really nice texture. Fits perfect,

You would tihnk the intake would come with the port seals to connect it to the heads. I ordered some, and they arrived today and fitted.

Looks like them strawberry laces sweets.

Those Strawberry laces, never tried eating them with a spoon, but looks like someone has.

Bit of cream fresh and black pepper goes down a treat lol.šŸ¤£

Added a clamp to the back of the intake to hold in that MAP sensor. Didn't come with a clamp, also only had a blind hole that needed drilling as not all applications need it.

Test printed in cheap material to make sure no oddities. Was something on the bottom part where it was too thin. Test print also good to see size and check fitment. The bottom bit would cost over Ā£25 to print in high temperature material. Test printing around Ā£5.

Happy with the top bit, no further changes to be made. It's come out really well. Happy with that.

Seal fits in the groove perfect.

Took off the strut brace, started to take off parts ready to unscrew the intake.
Fuel pump fuse removed, fuel pipe disconnected from the fuel rails.

Looking at the last picture, I see the future of 3D printing and that future is.....Minions!

Whipped off the old intake last night.

See int he vlalled there is a black circle, there is another further along. Under these are little microphones, called Knock sensors, they detect detonation of the engine and retart the timing if need be. These are the originals, 25 years old, 200k miles old. They can become sensative over time, also there was an altertation after 2000, so in 2001 and 2002 were alterations to avoid fals knock. Now I do see diring logging I do get some knock detected, but I do/did have the exhaust touching the body at time. Anyway I'll fit new ones., its about time.

They just screw into a thread on the block. easy to swap out. Providing nothing breaks on the wiring, or the plastic.
Atleast they are not made in China. These are Mexican.šŸŒ®

how many times has that intake been taken off i wonder lost count lol,,,,,,

Injectors won't fit the new intake, they are too fat.

Furl rails have the wrong fixings spacing. Apparently the intake is based on that LS2 which is slightly different to the LS1. It's only fuel rails. Heads for LS1, LS2 and LS6 are all identical. Injector length may be an issue too. Working though forums on that one.

Found some more info. There are other fuel rails.

The LSXR intake is based more on the LS2. The fixing hold are slightly different for the fuel rails. This pucture shows additional hole. Almost brought this kit, but the fuel rails look verymuch the same apart from the fixing holes. So I'd really only be buting it for the fixing brackets. I could probably make something brom a bit of aluminum angle.

Next problem was the injector fitment, the LS2 fuel injectors are shorter(at $600+ I'd rather reused my LS1 ones). The length I can take up with custom made brackets(no I'm not 3D printing it, if vibration and heat does something, the 3bar of pressure with surely help it break free) using aluminum and screws.

My injector are fat, I can dremel the orifice whre it fouls on the intake. However it seems my bottom seal on the injector is too small (LS2 injectors have a thicker o-ring). We have a local company called Flowseal, they are great for this kind of thing. I'll pop along on Monday and see what they have. In the meantime I have other things to work on.

Just came across this, could be useful.
