The noise happens on idle, it sounds like a loud exhaust leak, a lot of tapping, and it is related to engine speed. Checked oil last week. I'll try to get a video of the sound to see it the sound comes out on video.
Will be taking some bits off my car tomorrow, checking exhaust. I will get in from work and right on it. I only get this luxury on Fridays. So drivers side rocker cover off and start it up.
Well not too expensive. Need a new set of lifters, which means heads off and gaskets, bolts etc.. But why fails soo soon.... Gonna update the blog now...
I should have popped in a link to the blog.
Basically my rocker has slack in it, way too much

So at this point, either bolt that hold the rocker on is loose, rocker damaged, push rod is too short(bent) or a lifter has failed.
I check the rocker bolt, this is tight and in the correct position, pull the push rod, this is straight and both ends intact. Rocker looks good, no wear on roller or cup end.
Therefore only the hydraulic lifter left. Heads off job. (Older chevy engines you could change the lifters in the valley, you cant on the LS1).
