What have you done to your vehicle today?

Years ago I had to cut the cat out of the Fiero. The innards were all loose and kept blocking up the outlet.
I cut it out and replaced it first with a straight pipe and later with a cherry bomb. The replacement pipe was never a good fit and it gradually began to leak and knock on the underside, so finally ordered the correct head pipe from a Fiero specialist with a replacement catalytic converter too.
I had to cut the pipe to fit the new car, but it all clamped together nicely and went on the car with only a few choice words!
Surprisingly it's no quieter, although the tone has changed and there are no leaks and no knocking on the underside any more.
Good use of a couple of hours and one of the planned jobs for today.

And.... I washed the Challenger ready for the Can-Am show last week, but didn't get to finish it due to weather.
So today I added some detailing and a thorough Vaccuuming.
Shining and looking good.

Drove her again - woohoo! To make sure the exhaust was ok - of course it was - got some power back too and a lovely sound again instead of a pfft pfft from the leak :whoo:

Replaced dizzy cap, rotor arm and leads, test drive tomorrow!

Replaced dizzy cap, rotor arm and leads, test drive tomorrow!

No air filter or plugs shame on you, lol

One thing at a time.....Don't want to rush these things!

Test drive went OK, now have a smooth idle and not stalling when stopped in Drive.

Drove the car from my aunties to a country pub. There is a nice road, where there is a sharp turn out of a junction then a straight road. Nice grip on the road.
Well got into a good gear and hard accelerated after 2500rpm, well it soon got to 3500rpm, and then the revs shot up even quicker past then, soon was at 5000rpm, dam that thing pulled hard. Well impressed. Big grins on both our faces. Sounded awesome. you can certainly tell the cam comes alive above 3500rpm, it was like having a turbo car. Should be getting the Opie running in oil today or tomorrow, then I will be doing more hard driving around to run in them rings.

think vaundas car needed a servce oil filter ready to collasp and pollen filter as well, did plugs as well but they were ok nice little job then test drove out for a meal,

A good days work, did you do it in the garage out of the rain?

yes in the garage ramp made it nice an easy . hardly ever use my 3 trolley jacks now really only on the van,

I must get a ramp. Thinking of getting a pit, so that could be handy too.

pit will give you restriction and limited to what you can do,
if you had the height then a ramp is best but a pit will allow you to check change oil mybe a gear box change axle change depending if you can still get a jack under to lift car up if you can then ball joints as well oh and prop shalf and greese anything, would also need quick access out if there is a propblem so long enough for car and escape route lights mybe power as well,

took off the intake manifold to check for any weeping around the cam position sensor, all totally dry.
Changed the oil, was running the 'run in' oil. I now have the Millers 5W40 special stuff in there. Also changed the filter.
