And boy don't I know it!
The Achilles injury I picked up two weeks ago is still not healed despite resting it.
In fact the enforced lay-up actually hurt me too as stamina drops off quickly.
Still I completed it, just.
I would not recommend the Swindon 1/2 on its current course. The elevation changes are a killer with some mighty steep hills that defeated me today.
I'm not looking for a rematch.
I'm hoping to get an upgrade to my current heart rate monitor for Christmas so if anyone is interested in a Mio Alpha 2 with in-built HRM and other great functions, then do let me know. It's good as you don't have the chest strap for the HRM which can be very uncomfortable. This one is on the back of the watch and picks it up from the wrist
Scary stuff, and average pace of 5mph and keeping it up for 2 hours. Plus with a varied terrain. That's going to be a challenge, good luck with that one. You can do it!
Well what can I say but "holy cr*p". That has got to have been the worst running event - ever!!!
I did it in 2:30 and the multi terrain was just a killer especially the salt marsh area and the 4 inch muddy area. Unfortunately this got the better of Daves ankle which decided enough was enough
I carried on and the hills were unbelievably steep and so rocky that you just couldn't get into a running rhythm.
I crossed the line in so much pain and so glad it was over - I was crying as I went over he he!
