Took the block back, they were apologetic, and shocked that they missed it. Thanks for all your opinions, I think taking it back was a good move. At least it will be done correct and clean.
I also think the Pontiac blue looks great on the intake, but......
I'm less sure about the red fuel rails.
I think if it was me, I'd rub the fuel rails down to bare metal and then polish with some metal polish. They would look great as bare aluminum and bring a little old school bling to your engine bay.
Assuming that anodizing can be rubbed off anyway?
It could take some doing to remove the anodizing, sand paper would do it. There is an anodizing firm near near that can acid dip it and anodize it clear.
Also cleaned a bit of the prop shaft at lunch time, a couple of mins with autosol done this.
Going to have to do the rest now, although no one will see it apart from the MOT guy.
Transmount is poly, yes. Its been on there for over a year, along with the engine mounts, and feels okay to me. This new torque arm mount needed to be changed and I still had the mount for that in the kit. So gonna give it ago. Will be interesting to feel how different it is.
Not much chance. We got the block back on Thursday, which would have been achievable to assemble. However after spotting the clearance issue, its certainly delayed things. Not got the block back yet, not wanting to rush them either, as want it done right.
I will be at Wheels Day, but in the Kia. Going by what usually gets in, wouldn't be surprised if they direct me to the show arena rather than the public parking. Sarah is going to jump into a show car with no passengers, as one passenger gets in free.
I've passed on my ticket to someone else in the club who didn't get a ticket.
Its a shame its not going to be ready. With no rush on now, I can make sure things are cleaner and a little more perfect.
