Started dismantling Trans-Am engine

Ford racing blue....

I did think about going for an old Pontiac colour. I have been searching yesterday how to paint aluminum. Looks like etching Prima is a good start.
Rocker covers I could get anodised, but most of it would be hidden by the coil packs. Still may be worth doing though. My intake manifold is metallic blue, fuel rails are anodized red. Maybe block and heads should match the intake manifold.

Depends on how many coats. If you primed the intake a lighter colour so it covered better you could probably get away with two, three maximum.

Wrapping retains moisture that leads to rust.
Either ceramic coat, £££££! Or paint with VHT.

Looking better. That burnt oil can be hard to get off.
Did you decide on paint?

There is a lot of machine faces on the heads, so not a lot that is paint-able. Oil pan and block has a far greater paint area, also the rocker covers. So paint may be happening. Will decide this morning so I can get the paint on order

So a can of primer, VHT SP148 Grey Primer Engine Enamel Paint Aerosol | eBa

3 cans of Pontiac Blue VHT PONTIAC BLUE ENGINE ENAMEL PAINT SP122 | eBa

1 can of clear gloss VHT CLEAR GLOSS ENGINE ENAMEL PAINT - SP145 | eBa

That should make a good job of it.

Think there is enough room to put a dummy low profile air filter on top just to confuse people, lol.

Cleaned a rocker cover this evening.


Came up well. Looks good enough to paint.
